100th Anniversary Reunion - Make It Memorable, Contribute to the Lion's Paw Endowment

In preparation for the Lion's Paw (LP) One-Hundredth Anniversary Reunion in May 2008, one of our alumni made a comment that "if every LP alumnus pledged $1,000 to the LP endowment, we would have more than $1 million in our endowment fund!" That’s the magic of thinking big - and a tribute to the synergy in an organization like ours.

For our 95th anniversary, we raised more than $250,000 for the endowment, and the current book value of the account is about $300,000. No other Penn State alumni interest group has come close to matching our efforts. The interest from these funds has covered all the operating costs of the LP Alumni Association for the past five years - no annual appeals have been made - with money available to provide a cash stipend of $250 for each member of the active class.

For the 100th anniversary celebration, our goal is to increase the endowment to $500,000 so that we have the funds necessary to continue our Mount Nittany preservation efforts and increase our cash stipend to the actives.

We are looking for at least 25 LP alumni to pledge or contribute $5,000 each to the 100th anniversary endowment. What better way to commemorate our organization and its role in cultivating leadership? Pledges may be paid over five years. To honor those who contribute at this leadership level, we will host a special recognition breakfast at 8:30 AM, Saturday, May 3, at the Nittany Lion Inn where you will have the opportunity to meet with very special University guests.

In addition, we are seeking at least 25 LP alumni to make gifts or three-year pledges of $2,500 each. Finally, for young alumni (those who have graduated since 1997), you may join the leadership giving level and participate in the special recognition breakfast by contributing $1,000. Our goal is to have more than 25 percent of our alumni membership contribute to the one-hundredth anniversary fund.
