The Lion's Paw Medal
About the Lion's Paw Medal
As part of its stated purpose "To promote the welfare and best interests and to maintain and perpetuate the traditions of The Pennsylvania State University", the Lion's Paw Alumni Association annually awards the Lion's Paw Medal to persons who have contributed notable service to the University. The Medal has never been awarded posthumously, nor does it honor notable gifts to the University. Neither has the Medal been awarded to an employee of the University who has simply done his or her job, albeit exceptionally well. The Medal, rather, honors those individuals who have contributed their time and efforts in service to the University above and beyond what is normally expected. Many of these individuals have contributed whole lives of service to better the lives of students, to enhance the quality of education at the University, and to foster the traditions of Penn State.
